Remember?

Remember this poem that Dr. Talbot read to us?
Just lovely, I thought. :)

And did those feet in ancient time,
Walk upon England's mountain green
And was the Holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen!

And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon these Clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
among these Dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of Burning Gold
Bring me my Arrows of Desire
Bring me my Spear: oh clouds unfold
Bring me my Chariot of Fire!

I will not Cease from Mental Fight
Nor Shall my Sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green & pleasant Land

-William Blake 1809

I liked that poem a lot more before I discovered that William Blake was a little bit crazy. But you know the poem that Dr. Talbot loves that I will always be indebted to him for? T.S. Eliot's The Wasteland. That is a remarkable poem.

Hey! We sang that song, it's actually a bit of an anthem in Britain apparently. If you would like, I can get you a copy. All of our choral music was British this summer, so it was loverly.
